The Elton John Story: Elton John was born on March 25, 1947 in Pinner England. His father was in the Royal Air Force and therefore grew up in a strict background. His parents divorced and Elton became involved in a band called Bluesology which backed singers like Major Lance. In 1967, Elton and Bernie started a life-long partership of songwriting. In 1970, Elton wrote "Your Song" from his second LP Elton John. In 1972, his album Honky Chateau became his first number one record; the first in a string of seven consecutive number one albums over the next three years. In 1976, just as his LP Blue Moves went on sale, Elton confirmed his bi-sexuality. In 1977, he announced he would stop touring, but he went back on tour in 1979 with a tour of the USSR. In 1984, he married studio engineer Renata Blaue. Four years later they would divorce. In 1990 Elton entered a Chicago clinic to deal with a long-time drug and alcohol addiction. The result was a new and inproved Elton. In the 1990's, he wrote two musicals and two movie soundtracks. It is no wonder why Elton is called 'The world's leading musical performer.'
